Mapledurham
Mapledurham is a small hamlet and civil parish on the north bank of the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England, approximately 5 kilometres northwest of Reading. The hamlet is notable for Mapledurham House, a large Elizabethan manor house dating from around 1588, and the adjacent Mapledurham Watermill. The estate also includes a private church and a cluster of thatched cottages, making it one of the most preserved and picturesque riverside settlements in England. The estate has been used as a film and television location, most notably as the inspiration for Toad Hall in the original illustrations of The Wind in the Willows.
