Filming Locations

  • Chelmsford

    The newly built A1016 Chelmer Valley bypass in Chelmsford was used to film the car chase sequence that appears in the film as a chase through Ipswich.

  • Chicheley Hall

    Chicheley Hall near Newport Pagnell was used for scenes depicting the house near RAF Baywaters, where Petrofsky is shown around the location connected to the Soviet nuclear plot.

  • Colchester

    Colchester railway station was used for a scene in which Michael Caine's character Preston is filmed on the tracks.

  • Eton College

    Eton College was used for scenes in which Preston (Michael Caine) tracks down Sir Nigel and encounters General Karpov, as well as scenes involving Preston searching for his son near Durnford House on Eton High Street.

  • Heelands

    Much of the film was shot in the Heelands district of Milton Keynes, with the main house used for the Soviet agent Petrofsky's safe house located on Tranlands Brigg, Heelands.
