Shaun Of The Dead

Shaun Of The Dead

2004

When a zombie apocalypse quietly overtakes suburban London, a directionless young man named Shaun finally finds a sense of purpose as he attempts to protect his mum, win back his girlfriend, and hole up in his local pub until it all blows over. Edgar Wright's horror comedy is a wickedly sharp satire of British slacker culture.

Filming Locations

  • Crouch End

Crouch End forms Shaun's north London neighbourhood, with Weston Park used for his flat (No. 83 Nelson Road) and the local Weston Park Grocery where he fails to notice the zombie apocalypse unfolding around him.

  • Deptford

South London streets around Deptford were used for zombie horde sequences as the group makes its way through an increasingly dangerous cityscape.

  • Ealing Studios

The interior of the Winchester pub - where Shaun (Simon Pegg) and his friends hole up during the zombie apocalypse - was built and filmed as a set at Ealing Studios, while the exterior used a pub in New Cross.

  • East Finchley

The house at 37 Abbots Gardens in East Finchley served as the home of Shaun's mum (Penelope Wilton) and stepfather Philip, a key destination in the group's zombie-survival plan.

  • Highgate

Cunningham House on Hillcrest, off North Hill in Highgate, served as the exterior of Liz's (Kate Ashfield) apartment block, where the film's zombie outbreak is first fully apparent to Shaun.

  • New Barnet

Streets in New Barnet, including Lyonsdown Avenue and adjoining alleys, were used for scenes including the car stunt sequence and Philip's (Bill Nighy) zombie turning.

  • New Cross

The Duke of Albany pub on Queens Road in New Cross was dressed as the exterior of the Winchester pub, the gang's zombie-siege refuge, though its interiors were rebuilt at Ealing Studios.
