  • Castle Tioram

    Castle Tioram on Loch Moidart appears in the film as a Scottish Highland castle location, used in aerial and wide shots during the historical Highland sequences.

  • Eilean Donan Castle

    Eilean Donan Castle stands in as the MacLeod clan's castle; Connor is banished from the clan here after miraculously surviving his wounds, and the clan is seen marching to battle from the castle bridge.

  • Fort William

    Scenes were filmed in the Glen Nevis area near Fort William, including a village market set where Ramirez tells Connor he must leave his wife Heather, and a beach training sequence near Morar.

  • Glen Coe

    The opening battle between Clan MacLeod and Clan Fraser was staged in Glencoe before the conical peak of Buachaille Etive Beag, and Connor's tower home is located near The Three Sisters mountains.
