Two British soldiers are dispatched on a seemingly impossible mission across No Man's Land in World War I to deliver a message that could save sixteen hundred men from walking into a trap, all in what appears to be a single continuous shot. Sam Mendes' technically extraordinary and emotionally devastating war film.

Shepperton Studios' backlot housed the bombed-out town set, including the canal bridge that Schofield crosses under fire, with the collapsed bridge and pump house built as practical sets.
