Gloucester Cathedral

Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England

Gloucester Cathedral is a Church of England cathedral located in the city centre of Gloucester in Gloucestershire. The cathedral's origins lie in a Benedictine monastery founded in the seventh century, and the current Norman and Gothic building was constructed primarily between the eleventh and fifteenth centuries. It is notable for its magnificent medieval stained glass, including the great east window which dates from around 1350, and for its elaborate fan-vaulted cloisters, which are among the finest examples of this architectural form in the world. The cloisters were used as a filming location for the Harry Potter films, standing in for the corridors of Hogwarts.
