Stony Stratford
Stony Stratford is a historic market town situated at the north-west edge of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire. It lies on the River Great Ouse and was historically an important staging post on the old Roman road of Watling Street, now the A5. The high street contains a number of Georgian and Victorian buildings and two historic coaching inns, the Cock and the Bull, which gave rise to the expression cock and bull story. Despite its absorption into the Milton Keynes conurbation, Stony Stratford retains a distinct identity and conservation area status.
