Sleddale Hall

Sleddale Hall

Sleddale Hall, Penrith, Cumbria, England

Sleddale Hall is a remote farmhouse located in Wet Sleddale, a valley in the eastern Lake District in Cumbria, situated to the north-east of Shap. The hall is a traditional Lakeland stone farmhouse set in an isolated moorland setting adjacent to the Wet Sleddale Reservoir, which was constructed in the 1960s to supply water to the north-west. The surrounding landscape is characterised by open moorland, limestone grassland, and the typical fell scenery of the eastern Lake District fringes. The hall is known to film enthusiasts as the location used in the 1987 film Withnail and I as the fictional cottage to which the characters retreat.
