Royal Albert Hall
The Royal Albert Hall is a concert hall located on the northern edge of South Kensington in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London. It was opened in 1871 by Queen Victoria in memory of her consort Prince Albert and was conceived as part of Albert's vision for a great centre of arts and sciences in South Kensington. The distinctive elliptical building has a capacity of around 5,000 and hosts an enormous variety of events, from classical concerts and rock performances to sporting events and award ceremonies. It is best known as the venue for the annual BBC Proms season of classical music concerts.
