Radcliffe Camera

Radcliffe Camera, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England

The Radcliffe Camera is a circular library building in central Oxford, England, designed by James Gibbs and completed in 1749. It was built to house the Radcliffe Science Library, funded by a bequest from physician John Radcliffe, and is now a reading room of the Bodleian Libraries. The building is one of Oxford's most iconic landmarks, with its distinctive drum-shaped body and lead dome forming the centrepiece of Radcliffe Square. It is Grade I listed and considered one of the finest examples of English Baroque architecture.
