Newton Stewart

Newton Stewart is a small market town in Dumfries and Galloway, southwest Scotland, situated on the east bank of the River Cree approximately 25 miles east of Stranraer. The town serves as a commercial centre for the surrounding agricultural area and as a gateway to the Galloway Forest Park, the largest forest park in the UK and home to one of Europe's best Dark Sky Parks. The nearby village of Minnigaff on the west bank of the Cree, a bridge-crossing distance away, is sometimes considered part of the same settlement.
