Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum is located on Cromwell Road in the South Kensington district of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London. The museum was founded in 1881 and its building, designed by Alfred Waterhouse in a Romanesque style with distinctive terracotta facades, is itself a landmark of Victorian architecture. It houses a collection of over 80 million items spanning five broad categories of natural history and is a world-leading centre for scientific research in taxonomy, biodiversity, and earth sciences. Admission to the permanent galleries is free and the museum is one of the most visited attractions in the United Kingdom.
