Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory
The Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory (MRAO) is a radio astronomy facility operated by the Cavendish Laboratory of the University of Cambridge, located at Lords Bridge near Cambridge. It was established in 1945 and has been the site of numerous important astronomical discoveries, most notably the detection of the first pulsar by Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Antony Hewish in 1967. The observatory is home to several radio telescope arrays including the One-Mile Telescope, the 5km Telescope, and the Arcminute Microkelvin Imager. It remains an active research facility contributing to studies of the cosmic microwave background, galaxy evolution, and transient radio sources.
