London

London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, situated in the south-east of England on the tidal reaches of the River Thames. With a population of around nine million people, it is by far the largest city in the British Isles and one of the world's foremost centres of finance, culture, media, and government. The city encompasses a vast variety of environments, from the dense urban core of the historic City of London and the West End to the outer suburban boroughs and the green spaces of the Royal Parks. London has been a continuously inhabited settlement for nearly two thousand years, since its founding as Londinium by the Romans around 50 AD.
