Loch Torridon

Loch Torridon

Loch Torridon, Highlands, Scotland

Loch Torridon is a sea loch on the northwest coast of the Scottish Highlands, cutting deep into the Torridon mountains in the Wester Ross area of Highland Council. The loch is divided into Upper Loch Torridon and the outer loch, with the village of Torridon at the head of the inner loch. The surrounding mountains, composed of ancient Torridonian sandstone and Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in Europe, form one of the most dramatic and remote landscapes in Britain.
