Helston
Helston is a market town in west Cornwall, England, situated at the head of the Cober valley approximately twelve miles east of Penzance on the Lizard Peninsula. The town is most famous for the Furry Dance, a traditional Cornish celebration held annually on 8 May, during which participants in formal dress dance through the streets and private houses to the distinctive Floral Dance tune. Helston was a stannary town and has a historic town centre with a fine main street of Georgian and earlier buildings. The town is the gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, the most southerly point of mainland Britain.
