Hatfield House is a large Jacobean country house set in extensive parkland in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, built between 1607 and 1611 by Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury. It has been the home of the Cecil family for over 400 years and remains the residence of the Marquess of Salisbury. The house contains a significant collection of historic portraits, furniture, and artefacts, and stands adjacent to the surviving wing of the Old Palace of Hatfield, where Queen Elizabeth I spent much of her childhood. The estate includes formal gardens, parkland, and woodland walks and is open to the public.
