Hatfield Colliery
Hatfield Colliery, also known as Hatfield Main Colliery, was a deep coal mine located in Hatfield, near Doncaster, in South Yorkshire. The pit was sunk in the early 20th century and was part of the South Yorkshire coalfield, which was historically one of the most productive in Britain. The colliery survived the major pit closures of the 1980s and continued operating until it was placed into administration and closed in 2015. The site has since been subject to redevelopment plans as part of the broader regeneration of former colliery land in the region.
