Harlaxton Manor

Harlaxton Manor

Harlaxton Manor, Grantham, Lincolnshire, England

Harlaxton Manor is a spectacular Victorian country house situated near the village of Harlaxton in Lincolnshire, approximately four miles south-west of Grantham. Built in the 1830s and 1840s for Gregory Gregory to a design incorporating Elizabethan, Jacobean, and Baroque elements, it is considered one of the most extravagant and theatrical country houses in England. The manor is now owned by the University of Evansville in the United States and operates as a British study abroad centre. Its elaborate interiors, particularly the State Entrance Hall and the Cedar Staircase, are of exceptional quality.
