Charlecote House
Charlecote House is a National Trust country house near Wellesbourne in Warwickshire, England, on the bank of the River Avon. The house was built by the Lucy family in the 1550s and, while substantially remodelled in the 19th century in the Elizabethan Revival style, retains its original gatehouse. William Shakespeare is traditionally said to have been caught poaching deer in the park at Charlecote, though this story cannot be verified. The house contains a collection of furniture and art assembled partly from the Fonthill Abbey sale following the death of William Beckford.
