Bath

Bath, Somerset, England

Bath is a city in Somerset, England, situated in the valley of the River Avon at the edge of the Cotswolds, approximately twelve miles south-east of Bristol. It was founded by the Romans, who built the famous baths and temple complex around the naturally occurring hot springs, the only ones in the United Kingdom. The city is renowned for its Georgian architecture, including the Royal Crescent, the Circus, and Pulteney Bridge, which together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bath has strong associations with the novelist Jane Austen, who lived in the city for several years and set two of her novels there.
