Nil by Mouth

Nil by Mouth

1997

A deeply personal film set in South London's working-class communities, Gary Oldman's directorial debut follows a troubled family — a volatile, alcoholic father and the loved ones he damages — over the course of a single week. Shot in an unflinching, naturalistic style, it is a raw and compassionate portrait of cycles of abuse and poverty.
