Elstree Studios
Elstree Studios in Borehamwood were used alongside Shepperton Studios for the construction and filming of the elaborate fantasy sets, including Ming's palace and the various alien world interiors.

Broadford Aerodrome (Ashaig Airstrip) on the Isle of Skye was used for the opening scene in which Flash Gordon and Dale Arden board a light aircraft during a violent hailstorm, shortly before Ming launches his attack on Earth.
