Grimsby Docks - including Fish Dock Road and the town's ice factory, both interior and exterior - were used to recreate the nighttime streets of Dunkirk, as Robbie (James McAvoy) and his fellow soldiers await evacuation.

Stokesay Court near Onibury in Shropshire served as the Tallis family home, with both its interiors and grounds used throughout the pre-war sequences, including the fateful summer during which Briony (Saoirse Ronan) makes her false accusation.

Almost at the end of the film there is a wedding scene in a church. The exterior was shot in Lord North Street in Westminster. St John's church is also featured.
