Glen Coe

Glen Coe

Glen Coe, Highlands, Scotland

Glen Coe is a dramatic glacially carved valley in the Scottish Highlands, situated in the Lochaber area of Highland Council, approximately 17 miles south of Fort William. The glen is flanked by some of the most imposing mountain scenery in Scotland, including the Three Sisters ridges and the peaks of Buachaille Etive Mòr at its eastern entrance, and is popular with hillwalkers, climbers, and skiers. Glen Coe is also the site of the Massacre of Glencoe in 1692, when members of Clan MacDonald were killed by government troops, an event that remains deeply significant in Scottish history.
