Londonderry
County Londonderry, also known as County Derry, is a county in the north-west of Northern Ireland, bounded by Lough Foyle to the north, the River Foyle and County Donegal to the west, and the Sperrin Mountains running along its southern edge. The Sperrin Mountains form the largest upland area in Northern Ireland, an extensive landscape of heather moorland and blanket bog that is rich in prehistoric monuments. The county's north coast features dramatic basalt cliffs, long sandy beaches, and the distinctive Mussenden Temple perched on a cliff edge at Downhill. Derry, also known as Londonderry, is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and is remarkable for its largely intact 17th-century city walls, the last city walls to be built in Ireland.
