Worcestershire
Worcestershire is an inland county in the West Midlands of England, lying between the Malvern Hills to the west and the Vale of Evesham to the south. The Malvern Hills, a narrow ridge of ancient pre-Cambrian rocks rising sharply from the surrounding plain, form one of England's most distinctive landscapes and inspired the composer Edward Elgar, who was born in the county. The Vale of Evesham, in the south of the county, is renowned for its fertile orchards and market gardens, particularly asparagus and plums. Worcester, the county town, is home to a fine medieval cathedral and the world-famous Royal Worcester porcelain works.
