West Sussex
West Sussex is a county on the southern coast of England, bordered by East Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and the English Channel. The South Downs National Park, characterised by open chalk downland, ancient hillforts, and dramatic coastal cliffs, occupies much of the inland county. The county's coastline is relatively sheltered, with the historic harbour town of Chichester and the popular seaside resort of Worthing among its principal settlements. Chichester, the county town, contains a fine Norman cathedral and lies near Fishbourne Roman Palace, one of the largest Roman buildings ever discovered in Britain.
