Somerset, England

Somerset is a county in South West England, featuring a diverse landscape encompassing the high moorlands of Exmoor and the Quantock Hills, the flat wetlands of the Somerset Levels, and the limestone uplands of the Mendip Hills. The Somerset Levels, a low-lying area of marshland and peat bog, have been settled and farmed since prehistoric times and are internationally important for wildlife. The county has deep associations with Arthurian legend, with Glastonbury Tor and its ruined abbey traditionally linked to the Isle of Avalon. Taunton serves as the county town, while Wells, the smallest city in England, contains one of the finest Gothic cathedrals in the country.
