Leicestershire
Leicestershire is an inland county in the East Midlands of England, largely characterised by rolling pastoral farmland and a network of market towns. Charnwood Forest in the north-west of the county is an ancient landscape of rocky outcrops, heathland, and ancient woodland. The county has strong hosiery, knitwear, and boot and shoe manufacturing traditions. Leicester, the county town and a major multicultural city, gained international fame in 2016 when its football club won the Premier League championship as rank outsiders, and again in 2015 when the remains of King Richard III were reinterred in its cathedral.
