Carmarthen
Carmarthen (Caerfyrddin in Welsh) is a market town and the county town of Carmarthenshire in south-west Wales, widely considered to be the oldest town in Wales with continuous settlement dating back to Roman times, when it was known as Moridunum, the most westerly Roman town in Britain. The town has strong connections to the legend of Merlin, being traditionally regarded as his birthplace. The town centre retains a busy market tradition and includes the largest indoor market in Wales. Carmarthen is the administrative centre of Carmarthenshire and serves as a commercial hub for a wide rural hinterland in west Wales.
