Hardcastle Crags
Hardcastle Crags is a wooded valley and nature reserve near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, managed by the National Trust and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its ancient semi-natural woodland. The valley, carved by Hebden Water through the South Pennines moorland, is characterised by dramatic gritstone outcrops, sessile oak woodland, and a network of paths leading through the trees alongside the stream to Gibson Mill at the valley's heart. The area is rich in wildlife including woodland birds, rare mosses and lichens, and brown trout in the stream. Hardcastle Crags is one of the National Trust's most visited sites in Yorkshire, offering an accessible natural escape from the towns of the Calder Valley.
