Kirby Hall

Kirby Hall

Kirby Hall, Corby, Northamptonshire, England

Kirby Hall is a large ruined Elizabethan and early Baroque country house located near the village of Deene in Northamptonshire, approximately four miles north-east of Corby. Built from 1570 onwards, first for Humphrey Stafford and then for Sir Christopher Hatton, it is one of the most outstanding examples of Elizabethan architecture in England and was progressively elaborated with Baroque additions in the 17th century. The house fell into decay in the 18th and 19th centuries and is now a managed consolidated ruin in the care of English Heritage, with partially restored gardens. It is a Grade I listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument.
