Wells
Wells is a cathedral city in Somerset, England, and the smallest city by population in England, with approximately 12,000 inhabitants. It is named after the natural springs near St Andrew's Well at the base of the Mendip Hills and has been an episcopal centre since the late 8th century. The medieval cathedral close, including Wells Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, and the Vicars' Close, forms one of the most complete and best-preserved collections of medieval ecclesiastical architecture in Europe. The city lies at the foot of the Mendip Hills and serves as a local market and administrative centre.
