Ullswater

Ullswater, The Lake District, Cumbria, England

Ullswater is the second largest lake in England after Windermere, stretching approximately 12 kilometres through a glacially carved valley in the Lake District in Cumbria. The lake is widely considered one of the most beautiful in England, with its distinctive Z-shape winding between steep fells including Helvellyn to the west and Place Fell to the east. The village of Glenridding at the southern end and Pooley Bridge at the northern end are the main settlements on the lake. William Wordsworth is said to have been inspired to write his poem Daffodils by the sight of flowers on the western shore near Gowbarrow.
