Lake Windermere
Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, located in the Lake District in Cumbria, stretching approximately 17 kilometres from Ambleside at its northern end to Newby Bridge at its southern end. The lake reaches a maximum width of about 1.6 kilometres and lies within the Lake District National Park, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017. The towns of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere on the eastern shore are major centres for tourism in the region. The lake drains via the River Leven into Morecambe Bay.
