Killarney is a town in County Kerry in the southwest of Ireland, situated at the northern end of the Lakes of Killarney within Killarney National Park. The town is one of Ireland's most prominent tourist destinations, serving as the gateway to the Ring of Kerry and the scenic landscapes of MacGillycuddy's Reeks. Killarney National Park, Ireland's oldest national park, encompasses the three Lakes of Killarney, native oak and yew woodlands, and the historic Muckross House and Abbey. The town has a well-developed tourism infrastructure and a population of approximately 14,000 people.
