Polesden Lacey
Polesden Lacey is a Regency-era country house set in the Surrey Hills, near the village of Great Bookham, approximately 5 miles north-west of Dorking. The house was extensively remodelled in the early 20th century for the society hostess Mrs Ronald Greville, who used it to entertain royalty, politicians, and celebrities of the Edwardian and interwar periods, including the future King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, who spent part of their honeymoon there in 1923. The property is owned by the National Trust and the house and its walled rose garden, sweeping lawns, and woodland walks are open to the public. The estate commands fine views over the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
