Frensham Ponds
Frensham Ponds are two large artificial lakes located in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, near the village of Frensham approximately four miles south of Farnham. The Great Pond and the Little Pond were created in the medieval period as fish ponds for the Bishop of Winchester's estates, and they remain among the largest inland water bodies in south-east England outside of the major reservoirs. The area is managed by the National Trust and is a popular destination for walking, sailing, and birdwatching, with the surrounding heathland supporting a range of wildlife. The landscape featured in the filming of several productions including scenes from the 1965 spy film The Ipcress File.
