Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is the official London residence and administrative headquarters of the British monarch, located at the end of The Mall in the City of Westminster. The building was originally constructed as a townhouse for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 and was acquired by King George III in 1761, being progressively enlarged and remodelled over subsequent reigns. The palace has 775 rooms and is set within approximately 39 acres of landscaped grounds known as the Palace Garden. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in London, and the Changing of the Guard ceremony held on the forecourt draws large crowds.
