Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station, London, England

Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames in the Battersea area of the London Borough of Wandsworth. The station was built in two phases between the 1930s and the 1950s, creating its distinctive symmetrical form with four white chimneys. It ceased generating electricity in 1983 and subsequently became one of the largest brick buildings in Europe, as well as one of the most recognisable industrial landmarks in London. Following decades of redevelopment proposals, the building was extensively restored and converted into a mixed-use complex of apartments, offices, shops, and restaurants, opening in phases from 2022.
