Westminster Cathedral

Westminster Cathedral

Westminster Cathedral, London, England

Westminster Cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, located on Victoria Street in the City of Westminster, central London. Designed by architect John Francis Bentley in a Byzantine Revival style, it was begun in 1895 and consecrated in 1910, and features a striking exterior of red brick and Portland stone banding. The cathedral's interior, with its extensive marble and mosaic decoration still in progress over more than a century, and its 83-metre campanile, the Bell Tower of St. Edward, make it one of London's most architecturally distinctive religious buildings.
