Wensleydale
Wensleydale is the largest of the Yorkshire Dales, a broad, green valley carved by the River Ure in North Yorkshire, extending from Hawes in the west to Masham in the east. The dale is famous for Wensleydale cheese, a crumbly white cheese produced in the area since Norman times and still made at the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes. The landscape is characterised by a wide, flat valley floor with drystone walls, wildflower meadows, and limestone scars on the flanking hillsides, with several significant waterfalls including Aysgarth Falls. The dale features prominently in the television series All Creatures Great and Small, which was filmed extensively in the area.
