Warkworth Castle is a ruined medieval fortification located in the village of Warkworth in Northumberland, approximately seven miles southeast of Alnwick. The castle is dominated by its distinctive cross-shaped keep, built in the late 14th century by the Percy family, Earls of Northumberland, and stands at the head of a loop in the River Coquet, with the village below. The castle is managed by English Heritage, is a Grade I listed building, and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument that played a prominent role in early performances of Shakespeare's Henry IV.
