Trim Castle
Trim Castle is the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland, located in the town of Trim on the River Boyne in County Meath. Construction of the castle began in the 1170s under Hugh de Lacy following the Norman invasion of Ireland, and the massive 20-sided keep that dominates the site was built over subsequent decades. The castle and its extensive curtain walls, towers, and barbican have survived largely intact and are now managed by the Office of Public Works as a national monument. Trim Castle was used as a primary filming location for the 1995 film Braveheart.
