The Almshouses

Evershot is a small and picturesque village in the Dorset countryside, situated approximately eight miles south of Yeovil in the valley below the Dorset Downs. The village contains a number of historic buildings including traditional almshouses, a church, and a well-known inn, and is set within the gently rolling pastoral landscape of west Dorset. Evershot is one of the highest villages in Dorset and appears in Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles under the name Evershead.
