Swansea Guildhall
The Swansea Guildhall is a large neoclassical civic building in Swansea, designed by Percy Thomas and opened in 1934. The building is particularly renowned for its Brangwyn Hall, which contains the British Empire Panels, a series of 18 large decorative paintings by artist Frank Brangwyn, commissioned for the House of Lords but rejected and subsequently installed in Swansea. The panels, covering over 4,600 square feet, are considered among the most significant works of decorative art in Britain and attract visitors from around the world. The Guildhall continues to function as a civic and events venue, with the Brangwyn Hall used for concerts, conferences, and public events.
