Surbiton
Surbiton is a suburban district in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in southwest London, situated on the south bank of the River Thames approximately twelve miles from central London. The area developed rapidly in the 19th century following the arrival of the railway in 1838, and the station and adjacent streets contain a notable collection of Art Deco architecture from the 1930s, including Surbiton station itself. Surbiton is an affluent commuter suburb known for its riverside location, Victorian and Edwardian housing, and as the supposed inspiration for the fictional suburb of Surbiton used in various British cultural references.
