Suffolk

Suffolk, England

Suffolk is a county in the East of England, bordered by Norfolk to the north, Cambridgeshire to the west, Essex to the south, and the North Sea to the east. The county's coastline is characterised by shingle beaches, estuaries, and the eerie, slowly eroding heritage coastline around Dunwich, once a major medieval port now largely reclaimed by the sea. The Stour Valley in the south forms a natural border with Essex and is celebrated as Constable Country, the landscape that inspired the great landscape painter John Constable. Ipswich is the county town, while Bury St Edmunds is known for its impressive ruined abbey and Georgian architecture.
