Stoke Poges Church
St Giles' Church in Stoke Poges is a medieval parish church located in the village of Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire, near Slough. The church is most famous for its association with the poet Thomas Gray, who is buried in its churchyard and who is said to have been inspired by it when writing his celebrated Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard in 1751. The building dates primarily from the 12th and 13th centuries with later additions, and the churchyard contains a large monument to Gray erected in 1799. It is a Grade I listed building and a popular heritage attraction.
